This is an easy and fun craft project for the whole family, even the little ones can join in.

Materials Needed:

Trash bags (plastic, green or colored)

Large Poster Board

Tape, or Low Temperature Glue Gun

Scissors

Silver or gold paper

Decorations (Garland, balls, candy, toys, or bows)

Step One - Bend the poster board to form a cone shape, with the shorter side of poster board as the top and bottom. The larger the poster board, the larger the tree.

Step Two - Tape the sides of the cone shape to keep it together, cut off the bottom of the cone to make it even. Be sure your cone shape stands straight and even. There may be an small opening at the top, try to keep the opening small.

Step Three - Take a trash bag; they come in many colors. Choose a color that suites your decor. Lay the trash bag out flat. At the opening of the bag cut along one side down to the bottom of the bag. Then cut across the bottom of the bag. When you finish you should be able to open the bag like a book.

Step Four - Cut long strips about two and a half inches wide. Continue to cut as many strips as possible.

Step Five - Take one of the strips and make a fringe on it by cutting a one and a half inch cut every half inch along the longest edge of the strip. Be sure not to cut through the strip. When you are finished your strip will be fringed.

Step Six - Take a piece of tape (or use glue gun) and tape one end of the fringe to the bottom of the cone shape tree. Wind the fringe around the base of the cone shape tree, when you reach the beginning continue winding covering the solid part of the previous fringe. When you come to the end of your fringe, tape another piece of fringe onto that the end of the one you are using and keep working until the whole tree is covered. You may need to use another trash bag; depending on the size of your tree.

Step Seven - After the tree is covered, cut out a star from the leftover poster board, you cut from the bottom of the cone shape tree and cover with silver or gold paper. Cut two slits at the top of the tree across from each other and insert the star. You may also add sparkles to the star.

Step Eight - You can decorate your tree with garland, by taping the end to the tree and winding in around and then taping at the top. Tape decorations under the fringe such as bulbs, toys, candy canes etc.

This makes a wonderful Candy Tree for guests. Tape candy, wrapped in paper to the tree, Let each guest pick one from the tree when leaving. Replace the candy as often as needed.

Enjoy and have fun.
